Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas Part 1

Today is the 10th day of our trip! We have been in Austin, TX since the morning of the 5th enjoying the hospitality of very dear friends and all the good food and beer that is to offer in this area. Here are pictures to help capture our adventures thus far:

The car is loaded and we are hitting the road from Hendersonville, NC.

Central BBQ in Memphis to go to eat at the campsite.

Picnic on the west side of the Mississippi

Pretty neat campground called Toms Sawyer's RV Park. With a name like that, it had to be awesome.

The weather has been perfect the whole trip

Misha has a nice comfy spot in the backseat and she loves it!
We took a break from the road in Arkansas in Ouachita National Forest
We camped at place called the Winding Stair, which was a really awesome section of the river. We heard the next morning that there were Alligator Gar swimming around and we did see one Water Moccasin.

Lazy morning reading at camp.

Misha was protecting us from her favorite spot on the rocks.

The second night in Arkansas we camped closer to the parking lot for an early start the next morning. After that morning we decided Misha has to be tied up at camp since she enjoys roaming into other peoples camp sites, barking at other dogs and general deviant behaviors.
Free camping spot in East Texas, near Winnsboro.

Our drunk neighbors ended up leaving, likely they ran out of beer, so we mostly had the area to ourselves.

Arriving in Arlington the next morning, we couldn't check into our hotel yet so we walked around the park near the stadium. Here we tried to get Misha to defecate near where the cowboys play. She wouldn't however.

Beautiful stadium, home of the Texas Rangers

Much needed shower before the game! And it was Misha's first hotel experience.

The A's beat the Rangers 7-1

The next morning we drove to Houston, dropped Misha off at the Motel 6 and went to the game. This is us tailgating in the parking lot with the stadium in the background.
Another great evening at a ballpark
Dallas Keuchel warming up. We were standing just above the catcher!

The Rangers beat the Astros 2-1. It was a very close game and good to see the two rival teams duke one out.

We arrived in Austin and kicked the birthday party off immediately. Luckily Austin is the most dog friendly city I've ever been to. Misha has been surprisingly well-behaved in the city.
Great to see Mal, Nathan and then Skeeter showed up from Boston so It's been an Asheville reunion the last couple days.

Hanging out at Mal and Nathans place, a beautiful horse farm just outside Austin!
One of 2 skate parks we have sought out so John can practice his tail slides.

So that's it for now. Our plan is to go to Jester King Brewery today in Austin and then take off west from there arriving to Big Bend National Park in a couple of days. Misha won't be able to go with us into the park so we'll be at a hotel nearby. We're really looking forward to Big Bend and will have more pictures soon.
